Why "Eo Ire Itum"

As I sat down to write about leadership, motivation, inspiration, learning, hope, change, growth, and many other things, I realized I was writing about a much simpler topic. LIFE.

So why then, when I was prompted for a title of this blog, did the Latin phrase of "Eo Ire Itum" come to my attention? Truth is I’m not sure. You are likely wondering what does it mean.

I admit I am not an expert in Latin, but in an era where we have knowledge everywhere this phrase was brought to me and it stuck.

"Eo Ire Itum" is defined as To go, advance, proceed, travel, move along, and progress.

To me that is what LIFE is about.

As I mentioned already, this blog is about life. It is about this journey. This blog is about an everyday guy, his family, his work, his dreams, and how all of this combines to serve God, by serving people.

I must confess... I am not a literary genius. I spend my day speaking, teaching, learning, motivating, aspiring, coaching, assessing and inspiring. That list doesn't include a lot of writing. I will do my best to take these ideas, running through my head at a rate that the most daring of humans would fear to travel, and put them in a form that is both enjoyable and informative.

We will look at scripture, history, and stories of life. I will present my ideas, my plans, my success, my failure, my personal life, and my professional life. We will look into the ideas of others; their plans, success, failures, knowledge, and wisdom.

Through the glimpses into my life and the lives of others we will identify what we can do as human being to take this idea of "Eo Ire Itum" ans put it into action. We will identify methods to apply these concepts in our lives as a way to achieve new levels of success and impact...levels we have only dreamed about.

I welcome your comments, criticisms, insights, and ideas. It is in others that wisdom is found. A friend of mine says frequently, "I hope that the answers for the problems that we face in the world do not rest in me alone for I fear I will be a great disappointment". I cannot help but agree as this statement applies to my life.

It's in the minds of those that we serve that greatness rests.

It is my responsibility to help to unlock that.
